The Modern Dog Walkers Association (herein known as MDWA) Course and Assessment Booking Terms and Conditions
Please ensure you have read and understood these Terms and Conditions before you make a booking. By placing a booking you are deemed to have read, understood and expressly accepted them.
MDWA is part of The Institute of Modern Dog Trainers Ltd (herein known as IMDT)
Contract of Sale
Completion of the booking process and acceptance of our terms and conditions forms your contract with the MDWA
Payment
Payment of the full course fees must be made in advance and are made at the time of placing a booking. It is not possible to attend a course unless payment has been received
We accept payment by PayPal, online BACS, credit/debit card or cheque
Cancellation of MDWA or IMDT Courses
You have a legal right to change your mind about proceeding with your course purchase under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. All cancellations must be made by email to [email protected] within 14 days of your booking being completed
Day 1 of the 14-day cooling off period is the day of booking
MDWA and IMDT reserve the right to cancel a course up to and including the date of the course and will strive to give as much notice of this as possible. Individuals booked onto a cancelled course will be given the option of a full refund or of rescheduling to a future course date. The MDWA or IMDT will not be liable for any losses or expenses arising from amendments to the course or cancellations.
Attendance Courses – attendance courses are courses presented live via zoom or in person
Cancellations of attendance courses after the expiry of the 14-day period referred to above will be subject to the following fees
Cancellations within 0-7 days prior to the start date of the course will be charged the full course fee
Cancellations within 8-56 days prior to the start date of the course will be charged at 50% of the full course fee
Cancellations more that 56 days prior to the start date of the course will be charged 30% of the full course fee
If the participant fails to attend the course the full course fees are payable
Cancellation policy applies to all attendance courses on the MDWA website or for those booked through the IMDT website whether paid for in full of instalments
Should MDWA or IMDT have to cancel a course for any reason and be unable to offer you alternative dates within 18 months of the original date, a full refund or credit note for any other course available of the MDWA website shall be offered
Professional Dog Walking Certification
Should you miss a session of the Professional Dog Walking Certification course, upon request we will send you a recording of the session which will remain valid and accessible for 7 days after the missed session.
A link to The Professional Dog Walking Certification assessment which follows the Professional Dog Walking Certification course will be sent to all Professional Dog Walking Certification course attendees. This must be completed and submitted within 7 days of receipt of the link.
Attendees that achieve the pass mark will receive Pass certification, and will be offered MDWA Membership at an annual membership fee.
Attendees who do not achieve the certification assessment pass mark, will receive a certificate of attendance and will be offered the opportunity to retake the Professional Dog Walking Certification course and assessment at a 50% discount.
Correspondence Courses
Correspondence courses must be completed in the designated time period (2, 6 or 12 months).
If for any reason you believe the correspondence course will run over the designated 2, 6 or 12 month duration from start date, there may be an option to extend the course completion date.
Extension of the completion date requested within the original term of the course is subject to a re-registration fee of £130 + vat for 2 and 6 month courses and £170 + vat for 12 month courses.
The start date for each of the correspondence courses is the date of booking.(even if the commencement date of the course is re-arranged)
Extension of the completion date requested after the original term of the course, is subject to a re-registration fee which is 50% of the original course fee + vat
By accepting these Terms and Conditions, you are expressly consenting to MDWA or IMDT commencing the provision of services under this contract by sending to you by email the necessary course notes to commence the correspondence course, which will affect your ability to change your mind and cancel your booking and obtain a refund
Where the correspondence course is completed, you do not have the right to change your mind, even if the cancellation period is still running
If you cancel within the 14 day cooling off period and after we have commenced providing services under this contract by sending to you by email the necessary course notes and units to commence the correspondence course, you must pay us pro rata for the course units provided up until the time you tell us that you have changed your mind. The amount you pay will be in proportion to the number of units that you have been supplied in comparison with the full number of units to be provided under the contract. You will be refunded the difference (if any) between the sums you have paid us up to the date of cancellation and this proportionate amount payable for the services.
In the case of correspondence courses, if you change your mind and cancel this contract, then you must return to us within 7 days of the date of cancellation all materials that we have sent to you and delete any such materials held in an electronic format.
Any refunds will be made to you within 14 days of you telling us you have changed your mind
Delegate Substitution
All changes of delegate names must be requested 5 days prior to the start of the event by email to [email protected] and the change of delegate must be agreed by MDWA prior to attendance.
Transfer
Requests to transfer to an alternative course or date must be made by email to [email protected]
However, transfers are subject to availability and the MDWA is not obliged to ensure suitable alternatives are available.
Transfers can only be made onto courses that are currently listed on the MDWA website
A booking can only be transferred on one occasion. Requests for subsequent transfers will be treated as cancellations.
Transfer of student name cannot be made for correspondence courses after booking.
Transfers of course bookings must be agreed with the MDWA office and made to an alternative date within 12 months of the original course date
Webinars
Webinars booked through the MDWA or IMDT website are to be viewed by the purchasing customer only and must not be shared with a 3rd party unless express permission is first granted by The MDWA or IMDT.
Course Content
The MDWA and IMDT reserves the right to change the content, timing, date, venue or Instructor of the course in order to provide a high-quality service or where it is necessary for reasons beyond our control. The MDWA and Course materials are supplied only for your personal use
Intellectual Property
The MDWA and IMDT remain the owner of all intellectual property in MDWA and IMDT course materials. No part of the materials may be copied, recorded or reproduced without our permission.
Limitation of Liability
MDWA and IMDT will accept no responsibility for any losses, either direct or indirect, which you suffer in connection with the services provided under this contract.
Data Protection
Any personal information you give to us with be processed in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018. We will use the information to process your booking, to provide the course and to inform you about similar courses which we provide, unless you tell us that you do not want to receive this information. Any personal data you provide may be held on computer files. All personal data will be handed appropriately in accordance with the provisions of General Data Protection Regulations
MDWA or IMDT instructors may on occasion take photos during a course to be used to promote MDWA or IMDT services or as keepsakes for course attendees. If for any reason you would like to avoid your image being used, please do email the MSWA office prior to the event or let any of the course instructors know
Applicable Law and Jurisdiction
These terms and conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with English law and any dispute arising out of or in connection with them shall be settled by the English courts.
Limitation of Liability
MDWA will accept no responsibility for any losses, either direct or indirect, which you suffer in connection with the services provided under this contract

We will use the information to process your booking, to provide the course and to inform you about similar courses which we provide, unless you tell us that you do not want to receive this information. Any personal data you provide may be held on computer files. All personal data will be handed appropriately in accordance with the provisions of General Data Protection Regulations
All template and documents provided as part of your MDWA Membership offers suggested text which may be useful for you to edit and use for your dog walking business. MDWA accepts no legal responsibility for the information, documents or services offered by you to your clients.
